Ronaldinho Scores - Brazil Wins

Ronaldinho scored a pair of second-half goals as Brazil cruised past New Zealand, 5-0, on Sunday and now the powerhouse Brazil is 2-0

  • Anderson, Alexandre Pato and Rafael Sobis also scored for the Brazilians (2-0-0), who have clinched the top seed in Group C. China (0-0-1) and Belgium (0-1-0) will play later in the day, while New Zealand (0-1-1) suffered its first loss.
  • Brazil took the lead three minutes into the game when Anderson tallied and Pato doubled the advantage in the 34th minute. Ronaldinho scored six minutes apart early in the second half to give the Brazilians extra breathing room.
  • In Group A, Argentina (2-0-0) posted a 1-0 victory over Australia (0-1-1) and Cameroon (1-0-1) defeated Honduras (0-2-0), 1-0, in Group D.
    Nigeria (1-0-1) ousted Japan (0-2-0), 2-1, in Group B while the United States (1-0-0) will be in action later on Sunday against the Netherlands (0-0-1).
  • The Americans will be looking to build off a 1-0 victory in their opening match over Japan and can clinch an appearance in the quarterfinals with a victory. The United States have not won a medal in soccer since 1904.
  • Other games on Sunday include Serbia (0-0-1) against the Cote d’Ivoire (0-1-0) in Group A, Belgium (0-1-0) against China (0-0-1) in Group C and reigning World Cup champion Italy (1-0-0) takes on South Korea (0-0-1) in Group D.

Ronaldinho has his work cut out for them as any team could finish with Gold this year. The groups each have two strong football teams.
